Spirit of Enniskillen Trust

Using an adapted learning style the Together programme has begun to deliver sharing in education programme for Key Stage 4 pupils.

Through this programme we aim to work with schools and teachers to deliver key areas of the Learning for Life and Work Curriculum in an interactive and participative environment. The pupils have the opportunity to learn about how they think on key issues, how they work with other people and build their own capacity.

A critical part of the Key Stage 4 programme is creating a joint up approach to how it is delivered and facilitated by teams of SOE volunteers, sixth formers and teachers. We are utilizing the leadership potential of appropriate sixth formers, from previous Together programmes, to facilitate and lead the Key Stage 4 work. With the right support these sixth formers have the skills and attitudes to effectively deliverer this work for their peers.

Individual day — The Key stage 4 programme is delivered in school, normally across a full school day with the entire Year 11 group. Using the learning style and approach of the SOE we will focus on an issue, agreed with the school, relating to the curriculum. We will build the skills of the pupils to effectively take part in effective discussion of this issue.

Joint Day — Each school involved in the Key Stage 4 programme will have a partner school, drawn from different education backgrounds, who they will work with on a Joint Day. Following the Individual day a high number of pupils will have the opportunity to participate in this shared educational experience where they will learn about other young people and backgrounds to their own. In addition to this we will further explore issues relating to the curriculum agreed with both schools.

The Curriculum — The programme will also respond flexibly and engage through discussion to the educational needs and requests of each individual school.
