Spirit of Enniskillen Trust

Explore is the annual international leadership programme of the Spirit of Enniskillen Trust helping young people make their own contribution towards society.

Each year the Trust supports forty participants, aged 16 to 19, in groups of ten to develop their leadership potential through travelling to other countries where they meet with other young people who are also facing differences or conflict.

The learning on each programme is supported by a team of eight young coordinators/ leaders who are all themselves experienced past participants.

As well as having time for enjoyment and fun, those involved learn from discussion workshops on the issues that they select as important in their own lives.

The programme starts in April and finishes in October; including preparation and evaluation days in Northern Ireland as well as a two–week overseas project in July.

Explore is fully accredited through the Open College Network NI and it is expected that applicants are fully committed to attending all learning sessions and events without exception.

On finishing, participants are expected to reflect on their experiences and use their leadership skills to promote learning between all social, cultural and religious traditions.

The contribution of young people from all backgrounds and traditions is therefore greatly valued.

"This programme has shown me what I can do, how the smallest action can really have the biggest impact. I now know that I actually can make a difference"
